Job Description 

Modern Mobility Partners, a transportation planning and traffic engineering firm founded in January 2018, is looking for a Transportation Planning Intern with interest in transportation planning across all modes, GIS, travel demand modeling, and/or smart mobility planning, such as new and emerging technologies.   

This position will assist our award-winning growing firm in the preparation of transportation planning studies, reports, and analyses. Specifically, the individual will have the opportunity to explore their transportation interests and work with a dynamic team to complete a variety of projects, such as: 

  • Smart mobility planning reflecting new and emerging technologies and trends 

  • Long range transportation plans, regional transportation plans, comprehensive transportation plans, multimodal plans, etc. 

  • Statewide transportation plans across all modes 

  • Transit planning for urban and rural transit systems, as well as fixed route and on-demand service 

  • Corridor studies 

  • Infrastructure funding strategies and revenue forecasting 

  • Federal discretionary grant applications under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law 

  • Desktop scans (literature reviews) or research projects, such as for the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) 

Tasks may include but are not limited to: 

  • Assist with research and studies in transportation planning including best practices, literature scans, and emerging technologies 

  • Collect, compile, review, and organize data for planning studies and / or travel demand modeling analysis

This position is open to several levels of experience including entry-level candidates to those with over five years of experience. 

This position will assist our growing firm in the preparation of transportation planning studies, reports, and analyses. The candidate will have the opportunity to support project managers and senior leadership in project delivery in the field of transportation planning, planning processes, data analytics, project prioritization and performance measures, funding/grant strategies, and/or new and emerging technologies, among other disciplines as needed.

This position will assist our growing firm in the management, QA/QC, and/or production of technical analyses, including travel demand modeling, ridership forecasting, traffic and revenue analysis, calculation of performance measures, big data analysis, GIS, etc.   

The individual will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team to complete a variety of projects. Tasks may include but are not limited to: 

  • Conduct and QA/QC advanced travel demand modeling, technical analyses, and report writing, including the following: 

  • Travel demand modeling, including development, scripting, validation, and application, 

  • Development of travel demand models for traffic forecasting, managed lanes, project evaluation, transit forecasting, etc. 

  • Advanced data analysis, (i.e. travel demand model outputs, NPMRDS, Transearch, socioeconomic data, RITIS, etc.) 

  • Communicate on project/task status, schedule, and project activities
