Job Description

Modern Mobility Partners, a female and minority-owned transportation planning and traffic engineering firm founded in January 2018, is looking for a Senior Transportation Planner with interest in transportation planning across all modes, project management, GIS, and emerging technologies, including connected and autonomous vehicles.

This position will assist our small, yet reputable and award-winning rapidly growing firm, with the project and task management of transportation and transit planning studies, reports, and analyses. The candidate will have the opportunity to support senior leadership and project managers (upon hiring) in the field of emerging technologies and autonomous vehicles readiness planning, transportation and transit planning, project prioritization and performance measures, and funding/grant strategies.

Entry-Level Transportation Planner 1

Job Description

Modern Mobility Partners, a female and minority-owned transportation planning and traffic engineering firm founded in January 2018, is looking for an Entry-Level Transportation Planner with interest in transportation planning across all modes, GIS, travel demand modeling, and smart mobility planning, such as new and emerging technologies.  We have both modeling & non-modeling positions available.

Full COVID-19 vaccination is required.

This position will assist our award-winning growing firm in the preparation of transportation planning studies, reports, and analyses. Specifically, the individual will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team to complete a variety of projects, such as:

  • Smart mobility planning reflecting new and emerging technologies and trends

  • Long range transportation plans, regional transportation plans, comprehensive transportation plans, multimodal plans, etc.

  • Statewide transportation plans across all modes and for individual modes, such as transit and freight

  • Transit planning for urban and rural transit systems, as well as fixed route and on-demand service

  • Corridor studies

  • Infrastructure funding strategies and revenue forecasting

  • Federal grant applications, such as for INFRA and RAISE

  • Research projects, such as for the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP)

Tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with research and studies on emerging technologies and autonomous vehicles readiness planning, including online literature scans

  • Collect, compile, review, and organize data for planning studies and / or travel demand modeling analysis

  • Data analysis, including revenue forecasts, return on investment, calculating project performance metrics, etc.

  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping and analysis

  • Writing and editing reports

Required Qualifications

Project Assistant

Job Description

Modern Mobility Partners, a full-service transportation planning and traffic engineering firm founded in January 2018, is looking for a Project Assistant.  This position provides administrative and accounting support for our consulting projects.  Position will interact directly with Project Managers and accounting staff, as well as with clients, vendors, and subcontractors, as needed. The selected candidate must be flexible and able to deal with a variety of requests, adapt to changing workloads and priorities, and possess extremely strong organizational skills.  

Full COVID-19 vaccination is required.

This position will assist our award-winning growing firm in the preparation of transportation planning studies, reports, and analyses. Specifically, the individual will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team to complete a variety of projects, such as:
 

  • Proposal and Contract Negotiations 

    • Create project records in Deltek Ajera 

    • Assist Project Managers with developing budgets and schedules to conform to project requirements 

    • Develop rate tables for projects if needed in Deltek Ajera and review cost proposals 
       

  • Project Setup/Contracting 

    • Create and process contracts for signatures with clients, primes, and subconsultants 

    • Read and interpret contract provisions and set up accurate project information in Deltek Ajera in accordance with contract terms and Company policies, including, but not limited to contract value; task resources, hours, and budgets; scope of services; fee types, mark-ups, overhead rates, and payment terms, etc. 

    • Create, verify and/or edit in Deltek Ajera: Billing Rate Tables, Project Invoice Template, Billing Type, and Email Invoice Template 

    • Request Certificates of Insurance from subconsultants and MMP insurance company and provide to clients and primes at contract initiation and annually (renewals) 

    • Ensure new project charge codes are in timesheets program in Deltek Ajera 

    • Coordinate ACH payments with accountant and Co-Founders for subconsultants 
       

  • Project Invoicing, Payments & Collections 

    • Perform electronic timesheet administration procedures and understand the timesheet flow as it relates to labor, class codes, and project billing 

    • Within established deadlines, initiate billing cycle by generating and distributing Deltek Ajera prebill reports, facilitate edits per the Project Manager’s direction and finalize invoices with all required attachments and documentation. Submit invoices to client as instructed by Project Manager 

    • Review subconsultant invoices for appropriate level of detail as required by the contract and dollar amounts and incorporate into invoices 

    • Track accounts receivable and accounts payable for project 

    • Coordinate with Project Managers and senior leadership on payments to subconsultants 

    • Monitor aging invoices and follow up with clients and primes upon coordination with Project Manager 
       

  • Project Budget Monitoring 

    • Review employee timesheets weekly for project overruns and potential timesheet corrections 

    • Determine and monitor historical, current, and forecasted burn rate for projects 

    • Evaluate project profit 

    • Summarize project related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and identify risks for monthly project review meetings 
       

  • Contract Administration & Document Control 

    • Monitor contract and task order expiration dates 

    • Develop and maintain management and/or QA/QC plans as per contract guidelines 

    • Request and submit annual Certificate of Insurance renewals with client/prime and subconsultants 

    • Maintain all project administrative documentation, such as master contracts, task orders, subconsultant agreements, certificates of insurance, invoices, etc.  
       

  • Training 

    • Support project management training for employees, including development of training materials and instructing related sections 

    • Hands-on training and support for employees using project management tools 
       

  • Systems/Tool Development 

    • Identify gaps and opportunities of current project management processes, reporting, and tools 

    • Recommend new processes as deemed appropriate 
       

  • Assist with other project-related administrative functions as needed, such as assisting with travel arrangements and office meeting set-ups. 

  • Perform related work as required. 
     

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field 

  • 4+ years of project controls experience 

  • Proficient in MS Office 

  • Ability to think independently and analyze financial reports 

  • Proficient organizational and time management skills
     

Preferred Qualifications
