Deputy/Project Manager/Senior Transportation Planner

Job Description

​​​​Modern Mobility Partners, a full-service transportation planning firm founded in January 2018, is seeking a Deputy Project Manager or Project Manager/Senior Transportation Planner interested in multimodal transportation planning, data processing and analysis, emerging technologies, and/or public engagement. This position is open to someone with at least six years of transportation planning experience including some experience in  project management.

 

This position will assist our growing firm in managing and preparing transportation planning studies, reports, and analyses. The candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with other project managers and senior leadership in project delivery in the field of transportation planning, transit planning, planning processes, data analytics, project prioritization, performance measures, funding/grant strategies, and/or new and emerging technologies, among other disciplines as needed.  

The individual will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team and manage/perform planning and technical tasks for a variety of projects. Tasks may include but are not limited to:  

  • Serve as a Deputy/Project Manager on large and small transportation projects including, but not limited to, long-range plans, corridor studies, transit studies, safety plans, and bicycle and pedestrian plans  

  • Manage tasks or projects, including developing scopes, schedules, and budgets; monitor project delivery and implement strategies for successful completion 

  • Research and apply national best practices in a variety of topics related to transportation planning 

  • Lead public outreach efforts for planning studies  

  • Collect, compile, review, and organize data for planning studies  

  • Conduct data analysis including big data sources, complex formula calculations using programs such as Excel and/or R, revenue forecasts, return on investment, project performance metrics, etc.  

  • Conduct QA/QC on staff technical analyses and writing 

  • Identify challenges and opportunities and develop solutions that best meet the project needs  

  • Write, review and edit reports and prepare PowerPoint presentations  

  • Coordinate with project managers and senior leadership on the status of projects and tasks

Required Qualifications: 

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in transit planning, general planning, or transportation engineering, which includes project management, outside of academia 

  • Bachelor’s degree in City/Regional/Urban Planning or Transportation Engineering 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office   

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in City/Regional/Urban Planning or Transportation Engineering 

  • AICP or PE certification or ability to obtain within one year 

  • Proficiency in data processing, coding, and visualization platforms such as R, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, etc. 

  • Graphic design and Adobe Suite experience a plus 

  • Proficiency in ArcGIS
