Transportation Planner/GIS Analyst

Job Description
 

Modern Mobility Partners, a female and minority-owned transportation planning and traffic engineering firm founded in January 2018, is looking for an Entry-Level Transportation Planner/GIS Analyst with interest in GIS analytics and data analysis.

This position will assist our award-winning growing firm in the preparation of transportation planning and traffic engineering studies, reports, and analyses across all modes. The individual will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team and to assist with planning and technical tasks for a variety of projects. Tasks may include but are not limited to:

 

  • Collect, compile, clean, review, edit, and analyze geospatial data, usually in GIS format, from a variety of sources related to transportation planning and/or traffic engineering

  • Design, create, and develop GIS maps, online dashboard and storymaps

  • Collaborate with team members on data needs, data management, data visualization, project requirements and desired outputs

  • Perform regular update and quality control of spatial datasets to ensure data quality and integrity

  • Prepare technical memos and reports related to data collection and analysis tasks

  • Communicate with Project Managers and task leads on status of task deliverables

  • Respond to and complete clients' requests in a timely manner through team collaboration


Required Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree in GIS, City Planning, Civil Engineering, or Data Science

Transportation Planner

Job Description
 

Modern Mobility Partners, a full-service, female- and minority-owned transportation planning and traffic engineering firm founded in January 2018, is looking for a Transportation Planner with an interest in transportation planning across all modes, GIS, and smart mobility planning, such as new and emerging technologies.  

This position will assist our growing firm in the preparation of transportation and transit planning studies, reports, and analyses. The candidate will have the opportunity to assist senior leadership and transportation planners in the field of emerging technologies and autonomous vehicles readiness planning, transportation and transit planning, project prioritization and performance measures, and funding/grant strategies.   

The individual will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team to complete a variety of projects. Tasks may include but are not limited to:  

 

  • Assist project manager or task leads in communicating project activities, schedule, and analysis results for clients or other interested parties 

  • Assist with the preparation of presentation slides to report to the project team and/or clients as needed 

  • Conduct research and prepare summaries including, but not limited to, the following areas: 

  • Emerging technologies and autonomous vehicles planning 

  • Resiliency planning 

  • Equity planning 

  • Transit planning 

  • Collect, compile, review, and organize data for planning studies 

  • Write and edit reports under the direction of the project manager and/or task leads 

  • Perform data analysis with guidance, including, but not limited to: 

  • Socioeconomic data  

  • Origin and destination data 

  • Benefit-cost analysis or return on investment,  

  • Project performance metrics,  

  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis and mapping 

  • Assist with internal tool development 

  • Identify challenges and opportunities and develop solutions that best meet the project needs 

  • Assist in stakeholder facilitation 

  • Begin managing tasks as deemed appropriate, including monitoring task budget(s) and schedule 


Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in City Planning, Public Administration, Engineering, or a related field

  • AICP or ability to attain within 1 year or PE or ability to attain within 2 years

Job Description
 

Modern Mobility Partners, a transportation planning and traffic engineering firm founded in January 2018, is looking for Transportation Planning Interns with interest in transportation planning across all modes, GIS, travel demand modeling, and/or smart mobility planning, such as new and emerging technologies. This position will assist our award-winning growing firm in the preparation of transportation planning studies, reports, and analyses. Specifically, the individual will have the opportunity to explore their transportation interests and work with a dynamic team to complete a variety of projects, such as:

 

• Smart mobility planning reflecting new and emerging technologies and trends

• Long range transportation plans, regional transportation plans, comprehensive transportation plans, multimodal plans, etc.

• Statewide transportation plans across all modes

• Transit planning for urban and rural transit systems, as well as fixed route and on-demand service

• Corridor studies

• Infrastructure funding strategies and revenue forecasting

• Federal discretionary grant applications under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

• Desktop scans (literature reviews) or research projects, such as for the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP)

 

Tasks may include but are not limited to:

• Assist with research and studies in transportation planning including best practices, literature scans, and emerging technologies

• Collect, compile, review, and organize data for planning studies and / or travel demand modeling analysis

• Data analysis, including project cost estimates and revenue forecasts, return on investment, calculating project performance metrics, reviewing and processing survey data, etc.

• Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping and analysis

• Writing and editing reports

• Prepare PowerPoint presentations

• Communicate with Project Managers on status of task deliverables

Required Qualifications:

• Completed a Bachelor’s degree in City Planning, Economics, Engineering, or related field
