Entry-Level Transportation Planner / GIS Analyst 1

Atlanta, GA | Full Time

 

Job Description

Modern Mobility Partners, a female and minority-owned transportation planning and traffic engineering firm founded in January 2018, is looking for an Entry-Level Transportation Planner/GIS Analyst with interest in GIS analytics and data analysis.

Full COVID-19 vaccination is required.

This position will assist our award-winning growing firm in the preparation of transportation planning and traffic engineering studies, reports, and analyses across all modes. The individual will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team and to assist with planning and technical tasks for a variety of projects. Tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • GIS shapefiles and data development and editing, spatial data analysis, and development of maps, online dashboard and storymaps

  • Collect, compile, review, and analyze geographic data from a variety of sources transportation related data

  • Communicate with team members to define data needs, data management, data visualization, project requirements and desired outputs

  • Perform regular update and quality control of spatial datasets to ensure data integrity

  • Communicate with Project Manager on status of task deliverables

Required Qualifications

  • M.S. degree in GIS, City Planning, Civil Engineering, or Transportation Engineering

  • 0-2 years of professional transportation planning experience

  • Proficiency in ArcGIS

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with travel demand modeling data and/or software, including Cube and/or TransCAD

  • Programming experience

Travel Demand Modeler / Data Analyst 2

Job Description

Modern Mobility Partners, a female and minority-owned transportation planning and traffic engineering firm founded in January 2018, is looking for a Travel Demand Modeler / Data Analyst with interest in travel demand modeling, transportation planning, data analysis, and GIS.

Full COVID-19 vaccination is required.

This position will assist in transportation planning and traffic engineering studies, reports, and analyses across all modes. Tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • Collect, compile, review, and organize transportation and traffic related data

  • Assist lead modeler in travel demand model (4-step and/or activity-based) development and calibration, such as editing network, preparing and reviewing socioeconomic data, collecting and pre/post-processing model input and output data, mapping results, etc.

  • Prepare project memorandum and reports

  • Assist with preparation of PowerPoint presentations

Required Qualifications

  • Master degree in City Planning, Civil Engineering, or Transportation Engineering

  • 2+ years of professional transportation planning, travel demand modeling or data analytics experience

  • Professional data analytical experience with at least one of the following tools: Excel/ACCESS/R/Python

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in travel demand modeling development and validation

  • Hands-on experience with travel demand modeling software, including Cube and/or TransCAD

  • Programming/Scripting experience with Excel VBA, SQL, R, Python, etc.

  • AICP or ability to attain within 1 year or PE or ability to attain within 2 years

Transportation Planner/GIS Analyst Intern

Atlanta, GA | Part/Full Time | Temporary

 

Job Description

Modern Mobility Partners, a female and minority-owned transportation planning and traffic engineering firm founded in January 2018, is looking for a Transportation Planning Intern with interest in transportation planning, travel demand modeling, data analysis, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping, and emerging technologies, including connected and autonomous vehicles.

Full COVID-19 vaccination is required.

This position will assist our growing firm in the preparation of transportation planning studies, reports, and analyses. The individual will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team to complete a variety of projects. Tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • GIS analysis and mapping

  • Collect, compile, review, and analyze data for planning studies

  • Work with senior modelers on travel demand modeling, such as network editing, review of socioeconomic data, mapping of results, etc.

  • Assist with research and studies on emerging technologies and autonomous vehicles readiness planning, including online literature scans

  • Assist with preparation of PowerPoint presentations under the direction of supervisor

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a masters degree in urban planning, transportation engineering, or GIS

  • Proficiency in ArcGIS

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship experience

  • Experience or familiar with transportation data analysis
