MODELING TRIP TIMES SUMMERHILL BUS RAPID TRANSIT (BRT)

CLIENT: Atlanta Downtown Improvement District

Purpose of Project

The Summer Hill Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) modeling task was to estimate the trip time for the two alignment alternatives along the streets within Downtown area.

Our Role on the Project

As a sub-consultant, MMP assisted the prime consultant team to evaluate the trip times of this BRT project. We used Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC)’s Activity Based Model (ABM) to conducted the future year travel time analysis. The two alignment alternatives were coded into the ABM and assumptions for the bus routes were discussed with project team and adjusted accordingly in the model. The output of the trip time was used to help Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (ADID) on evaluating the future alternatives and moving forward to the next stage.

Problem Solvers

When future conditions were not clear in the study area and project team was looking for methodology to plan for the future, MMP utilized the best tool and data available to conduct quantitative analysis and provided reasonable output.
