South Fulton Parkway High-Capacity Transit Corridor
CLIENT: Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA)
Purpose of Project
The South Fulton Parkway project was conducted for MARTA as part of their General Planning Consulting Professional Services contract. This project aimed to develop conceptual designs and an implementation plan for high-capacity transit (HCT) along South Fulton Parkway in the Atlanta metro region. The conceptual design included station locations, queue jump lanes, transit preference treatments, and transit signal priority. The goal was to create an implementation plan that identifies steps to advance the preferred alternative into project development and the environmental process, including potential funding sources, cost estimates, preliminary operations plans, and delivery strategies for future phases.

Our Role on the Project
As part of a team, MMP led the following efforts:
-
Led a safety analysis to determine safety treatments needed along the corridor, focusing on the proposed station locations
-
Assisted with the development of an implementation plan for the corridor
-
Contributed to the Capital Investment Grants analysis, focusing on the land use, zoning, and economic development factors
